Texas BBQ Sauce Recipe is a bold, tangy, and slightly sweet blend made with ketchup, vinegar, and warm spices, traditionally served with smoked beef and grilled meats. Its rich, savory flavor makes every bite unforgettable. I created this Texas BBQ sauce after watching pitmasters slow cook meats on a barbecue show, which inspired a kitchen experiment.
Set a medium saucepan over medium heat and melt the butter. Once melted, add the ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, vinegar, and molasses (or honey). Whisk everything together until smooth and well blended.
Step 2: Build The Flavor
Stir in the brown sugar, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, coriander, black pepper, salt, and chipotle or liquid smoke if using. Pour in the water or beef broth and mix until fully combined.
Step 3: Let It Simmer
Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer uncovered for about 15–20 minutes. Stir now and then as it thickens and the flavours come together.
Step 4: Finish And Cool
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if needed. Take it off the heat and let it cool slightly before transferring to a jar. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
