Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup yellow onion minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 2 teaspoons water for thickening
  • pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 1 20- ounce crushed pineapple
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
 

Mix The Base

  • Place a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, sesame oil, crushed pineapple, and minced onion. Stir until everything is well blended.

Add Flavorings

  • Mix in the garlic, grated ginger, smoked paprika, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir and let the sauce come to a light simmer.

Let It Cook

  • Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes, stirring now and then, until the flavours come together and the sauce slightly thickens.

Finish The Sauce

  • Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce becomes shiny and thick. Remove from heat and let cool before using or storing.
