Oven
- 1 box Angel Food Cake Box Mix
- 1 can crushed pineapple in juice (undrained)
First, heat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a big bowl, mix together the Angel Food Cake mix and the whole can of crushed pineapple (don’t drain it!). Stir gently until everything is just combined be careful not to over mix so the cake stays nice and fluffy.
Pour the batter into a 10-inch tube pan without greasing it.
Pop the pan into the oven and bake for about 35 to 40 minutes. The cake should turn golden and a toothpick stuck in the middle should come out clean.
When it’s done, take it out of the oven and immediately turn the pan upside down, resting it on a bottle or something heatproof, so it cools that way. This keeps the cake light and airy.
Once the cake is completely cool, run a knife around the edges and the center tube to loosen it, then gently remove it from the pan.
Slice it up and enjoy! It’s great on its own or with a dollop of whipped cream.
Be sure to use crushed pineapple in juice, not in syrup. The syrup will make the batter too sweet and dense. Also, don’t add any extra ingredients to the cake mix the pineapple is all it needs to transform into something amazing.
