Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow or Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust for heat preference
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke hickory preferred
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
 

Throw It All In:

  • Grab a medium saucepan and toss in all your ingredients ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne, salt, pepper, soy sauce, a few drops of liquid smoke, and Worcestershire sauce.

Stir It Up:

  • Put the pan on medium heat and whisk everything together until it’s nice and smooth.

Let It Simmer:

  • Once it starts to bubble gently, turn the heat down and let it simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes. Stir it every now and then so nothing sticks. It’ll start to thicken up a bit as it cooks.

Taste Test:

  • Give it a taste. Want it spicier? Add more cayenne. Too tangy? A little more honey might help. Play with the balance until it tastes right to you.

Cool & Save:

  • When it’s done, take it off the heat and let it cool down to room temp. Pour it into a clean jar or bottle with a tight lid. Keep it in the fridge it’ll stay good for about two weeks.
