Get The Oven Ready:

  • Set your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease your round cake pan with butter or oil, then dust it with flour, or just line it with parchment paper for an easy release later.

Mix The Wet Stuff:

  • In a big bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar using a mixer or a whisk until the mixture looks light and fluffy this usually takes about 3 to 4 minutes.

Add Eggs And Flavor:

  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each is fully mixed before adding the next. Then stir in the almond extract for a nice flavour boost.

Get The Dry Ingredients Ready:

  • In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Combine Everything:

  • Now, slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk. Start and end with the dry stuff. Mix gently until everything is just combined try not to overdo it.

Time To Bake:

  • Pour the batter into your prepared pan and smooth the top. Pop it in the oven and bake for about 45 to 50 minutes. It’s done when a toothpick poked into the center comes out clean.

Let It Cool:

  • Leave the cake in the pan for about 10 to 15 minutes to cool down a bit, then move it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
