  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula
  • 9-inch round cake pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Cooling rack

Ingredients

For The Cake:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh Florida orange juice
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange zest
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup water

For The Frosting:

  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 3 –4 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

Step 1 – Heat The Oven And Prepare The Pan

  • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan, or line the bottom with parchment to make removing the cake easier.

Step 2 – Blend The Wet Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, oil, and sugar until the mixture looks creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the vanilla, orange juice, milk, and the orange zest until everything is smooth and well combined.

Step 3 – Mix The Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients gradually, alternating with the ¼ cup of water. Stir gently just until everything comes together avoid over mixing.

Step 4 – Bake The Cake

  • Pour the batter into your prepared pan and smooth out the surface. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 5 – Make The Frosting And Finish The Cake

  • In a medium bowl, whip the softened butter and cream cheese until completely smooth. Add the powdered sugar, orange juice, orange zest, vanilla, and a small pinch of salt. Beat until the frosting is creamy. Spread evenly over the cooled cake, slice, and enjoy.
