Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 1 cup tomato ketchup
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • ¼ cup water plus more as needed for thinning
  • ¾ cup peach schnapps
  • 1 fresh jalapeno finely minced
  • 4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • ½ cup raisins
  • 2 slices bacon cooked until crisp and crumbled
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

Cook The Jalapeno

  • Heat a little oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Toss in the minced jalapeno and cook it for about 1-2 minutes until it softens and starts to smell amazing.

Add The Main Ingredients

  • Pour in the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, peach schnapps, liquid smoke, corn syrup, and water. Give everything a good stir to mix it all together.

Season It Up

  • Sprinkle in the smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, ground mustard, chili powder, black pepper, and salt. Stir again so the spices get evenly spread throughout.

Add Bacon And Raisins

  • Mix in the cooked and crumbled bacon along with the raisins. These add a nice sweet and savory punch to the sauce.

Let It Simmer And Blend

  • Turn the heat down to low and let the sauce gently bubble away for 25-30 minutes. Stir it now and then the raisins will get soft and plump. If you want it super smooth, use an immersion blender right in the pot or let it cool a bit and blend it in a regular blender.

Final Touches And Serving

  • If the sauce feels too thick, just stir in a splash of water until it’s just right. Let it cool down a little before serving. Keep any leftovers sealed in the fridge for up to two weeks.
