Dreamland BBQ Sauce is a tangy, bold Southern style sauce known for its rich flavour. Made with vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and spices, it balances sweet, spicy, and smoky notes. Often served with ribs, it’s simmered to blend flavours perfectly. This iconic Alabama sauce enhances meats, adding authentic barbecue taste to any dish.
In a large saucepan or stockpot, combine the tomato puree, water, apple cider vinegar, yellow mustard, honey, dark corn syrup, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to blend.
Add Dry Spices:
Stir in the chili powder, dry mustard, paprika, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cayenne pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly to ensure all the spices are evenly distributed.
Simmer:
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently. Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for 40–45 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking or burning at the bottom.
Taste and Adjust:
After simmering, taste the sauce and adjust sweetness, heat, or acidity if needed (you can add more honey, vinegar, or spices based on your preference).
Cool and Store:
Let the sauce cool to room temperature. Transfer to a clean, airtight container or mason jar. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
