Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup brown sugar packed (light or dark)
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt or to taste
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper optional, for heat
  • ½ tsp chili powder

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard or yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke optional, for extra smoky flavor
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
 

Mix The Ingredients

  • Grab a medium saucepan and toss in everything ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, your spices, a bit of water, and liquid smoke if you’re using it.

Stir It Up

  • Whisk everything together until it looks smooth and the ingredients are fully combined.

Heat Things Up

  • Set the pan over medium heat. Let it come to a gentle simmer, giving it a stir now and then so nothing sticks or burns.

Let It Cook Down

  • Turn the heat down low and let the sauce simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Keep stirring so it doesn’t stick. It should thicken up as it cooks stop when it’s just how you like it.

Cool And Store

  • Once it’s done, take it off the heat and let it cool. Pour it into a jar or any airtight container. Keep it in the fridge, and it’ll stay good for about two weeks.
