Instructions
Make The BBQ Sauce:
In a bowl, mix together ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder (or fresh minced garlic), chili powder if you like a little heat, salt, pepper, and a splash of liquid smoke if you want that smoky flavor. Stir everything until it’s smooth and set it aside for now.
Get The Chicken Ready:
Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Drizzle some olive oil on both sides, then sprinkle salt and pepper generously over them.
Cook The Chicken:
Heat up a skillet or grill pan over medium high heat. When it’s hot, add the chicken breasts. Cook for about 6 to 7 minutes on each side until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
Add The BBQ Sauce:
In the last 3 to 4 minutes of cooking, brush the chicken with the BBQ sauce on both sides. Let the sauce cook a bit and get slightly caramelised as the chicken finishes up.
Serve:
Take the chicken off the heat and let it rest for a few minutes. Serve it with extra BBQ sauce if you like. It goes great with grilled veggies, coleslaw, or whatever side you prefer.
