Equipment

  • 8×8 inch baking pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 box yellow or white cake mix

Instructions

Heat The Oven

  • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking pan, or line it with parchment so the bars lift out easily.

Make The Dough

  • In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, melted butter, and the egg until the mixture turns into a thick dough.

Add The Chocolate Chips

  • Stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips so they’re spread evenly throughout.

Fill The Pan

  • Scoop the dough into the prepared pan and use a spatula or your hands to press it into an even layer.

Bake

  • Place the pan in the oven and bake for about 20–25 minutes, until the edges turn golden and a toothpick poked into the center comes out mostly clean.

Cool And Cut

  • Let the cookie cake rest in the pan for at least 10 minutes before cutting it into squares. Enjoy warm or once fully cooled.
